Work with us

Dog walking and training

Current vacancies

Dog walker and training assistant

We’re looking for a passionate, reliable and motivated dog lover to join our small team. You will carry out group dog walks/field runs, lone dog walks, and puppy visits.

The role will include doing dog pickups and drop offs from their homes in our custom van. You will gain experience in the latest positive, reward-based and force-free dog training by observing and assisting in training classes and at 1-1 training sessions. Some business development and admin support will also be required.

You’ll spend a lot of your time outdoors, so you’ll need to love fresh air, forests and fields come rain or shine and will need good people skills to work with owners as well as their dogs.

Fundamentally you’ll need to be comfortable and experienced with handling dogs of all sizes and breeds. You’ll need good timekeeping, strong communication skills and a great customer service approach. The job can be physically demanding so a level of fitness conducive to walking on off road terrain and controlling dogs on leads is appropriate.

You’ll need to be able to drive and have held a clean driving licence for at least two years.

Applicants must be available to work weekdays, with occasional evening and weekend work with notice in advance.

Employees are required to adhere to the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers’ Code of Ethics and to use and promote only force-free training techniques.

We are committed to ensuring high standards of training and support for this new member of our team. As well as training in dog walking and canine welfare, we have wide ranging skills and expertise in small business management, digital marketing, communications and design and we’ll give the right candidate the opportunity to learn all aspects of the business from stock management to CRMs to accountancy if you’re interested.

You’ll be supplied with Forests & Fetch clothing and outdoor equipment and mandatory certified Dog First Aid training. You’ll be mentored to grow with the business in the areas you are most passionate about, and we’ll support your career progression with Continuing Professional Development with the Institute of Modern Dog Training and, all being well, the opportunity to turn this into a long term role.

Initially this will be 30 hours per week, usually in the middle of the day but with some evening work and occasional weekend and may increase with progression in the role.

To start this is likely to follow a regular pattern but flexibility will be required.
