Increasing focus on you in high arousal environments
Go to a location where your pup has reacted before. Keep a distance from the location does not make your pup bark, lunge or stare intently at the location in such a way that they cannot look at you when you say their name. Allow them to scan the location, then say their name, when they look at you, say “Good!” and give them a high value treat. If they begin to offer eye contact voluntarily after they have scanned the location, say “Good” and give them a treat when they do.
