Socialisation

Socialisation is when your puppy experiences the world around them to get used to everything they’ll see as adult dogs. That includes dogs, people, cars, cats, children, floor textures, different noises, different smells and anything else they might encounter throughout their life. Up to 12-16 weeks old (depending on breed) is the most crucial period for this socialisation. Socialisation in early puppyhood is vital to ensuring a happy, confident adult dog and is probably the most important thing you can do for your dog. Ensure that all encounters are positive experiences by giving them treats and praise and make sure that you aren’t so close that they become overwhelmed and fearful.
